Page Turner
Another web-drama I watched recently was Page turner. This one just has 3 episodes with 1-hour each.
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Music, School
Country: South Korea
Episodes: 3
Duration: 60min each.
Episodes: 3
Duration: 60min each.
Network: KBS2
Main roles - cast:
Kim So Hyun
Ji Soo
Shin Jae Ha
The main reason for me to decide to watch this was the actress Kim So Hyun that I truly admire. The first time I saw her acting was probably in "I hear your voice" but she only appeared in "flashbacks" so the drama that made me like her was school 2015 (although it was the most disappointing drama ever in my opinion. I'll do a review about this one soon.)
The second reason was the actor Ji Soo. He entered in "Moon Lovers", "Weightlifting fairy kim bok joo" (just a guest role but I noticed him) and "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon". Although his roles are secondary ones I like his acting. I think he can go even further in his career.
The other main role in "Page Turner" that made me kinda curious was Shin Jae Ha. Maybe you remember him if you watched "Go ho's starry night"
Now about the story....
-Synopsis-
Yoo Seul (Kim So Hyun) is an amazing pianist who won various contests in her art school although that dream wasn't hers. One day she has an accident and she may never play the piano again. With the help of her rival Jin Mok (Shin Jae Ha) and her new friend Cha Shik (Ji Soo), Yoo Seul begins to live a new life.
It's a short story about 3 friends and specially about their dreams. I don't think you need to like classic music to watch this even if the main plot is about pianists. The story It's so simple, straightforward and heartwarming and even though it's not complicated it has a powerful meaning and show how these three teenagers face their fears and difficulties and how they grow up. It was very emotional without being melodramatic and do not expect a love story. I am a big fan of love stories so I was a bit afraid that this drama would be lacking without it but it was so surprising that I felt like if it was focused on the love story it would lose all the meaning.
Even though it just has 3 episodes I felt like it was enough. However, I'll be honest, the ending made me want more. I felt like it could be a drama with 15 episodes if they show us the story before her accident and how she become a huge enemy of Jin Mok and the story of Cha Shik after. But if they did that maybe the story would lose the powerful message. It's not like you don't understand the story before the accident and the reasons that led them to be enemies but... you know... I want more! XD
I truly recommend everyone to watch this web-drama. It's just 3 hours and will warm your heart for a long time and it'll make you think about your own dreams. If you want to give up, it will show you that even if a door closes, a window can be open. Cliché I know... but watch and you'll understand what I say.
